Daintree Design is an Umbrella ...... it shelters several Passions.
Daintree Design is Doug Herriman’s small Studio Work Shop space.
It’s located at the foot of Thornton Peak, just south of Cape Tribulation, in the Greater Daintree Rainforest, in Far North Queensland, Australia.
"We live in a World that has seemingly forgotten what Quality, Uniqueness and Sustainability are all about, and as we move into the 21st century, the impact that we are having on our Planet is profound, so accounting for ourselves, and our impact, is something that is very important..... (at least to me)
Not only should we hand on to a future generation, a World, and an Environment that has been cared for and respected, but we should be able to pass on something that has been Handmade, something Unique..... something of Quality".
"Quality Has No Fear of Time."
"There are several things that I’m involved in and passionate about. Art Nouveau style Silver Work, and Guitars being two in particular.
Anyway, thanks for visiting."
Jewellery Design and Creation.
The basis and main inspiration for most of Doug’s Jewellery work is Art Nouveau, particularly the period between 1895 and 1910.
Art Nouveau displays the vigour and intensity of youth, and perhaps too, some of its precociousness. Its free flowing line suggests movement as well as passion and vitality.
Jewellery was it’s most intense expression.
The melodious whiplash line..... visible waves of erotic vertigo.
Gold and Silver are both elements, Ag (Gold), Au (Silver). Put simply, Gemstones are configurations of different elements .... For example, Quartz Crystal is Silicon (Si) and Oxygen (O), while Diamond is Carbon (C).
Combining different elements and creating unique one of a kind Jewellery is something Doug gains great pleasure from.
Guitars.
As something that began as a side project, building and repairing Guitars is becoming one of his main preoccupations.
